Renault-an Overview Renault was set-up by three brothers- Louis, Marcel and Fernand Renault in France in 1898. By 1900, they had sold over 200 cars. They had diverse range and manufactured various models over the next forty-five years. However, during the World War II, Louis Renault was accused of colluding with the Nazis. Renault was nationalized in January, 1945. After nationalization, Renault, in order to expand, entered into an alliance with Chrysler in North America, Volvo in Sweden, Daf in Holland and Peugeot in France. Its hatch-back bonnet of model R16 and V6 petrol engines of model R30 introduced in 1964 and 1974 respectively became the de facto industry standard. Renault is also involved in F1 motor racing and rallying, which it uses as a means to promote product and brand image...

Product Portfolio and Market Share of Renault The product portfolio of Renault is most dynamic and varied in terms of cost and utility. The Renault Group sold 1.36 million vehicles in the first half of 2005 which rose by 50,000 units (3.8%) vis-à-vis first-half of 2004. Renault's global market share accounted for 4.2%, on par with first-half of 2004. In Western Europe, Renault maintained its position as the leading brand both in the passenger car (10.2%) and light commercial vehicles segment (15%)...

The Future of Logan In the first half of 2005, Dacia's sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) increased by a huge 90.7%, which was almost 80,000 units. 100,000 advance bookings had already been received as of June 2005. This is attributed to the success of Logan. In Romania, Dacia increased vehicle sales by 86.3% to almost 63,000 units, bringing its market share to 49.6%(43.6% in the first half of 2004)...
